St. Mary’s Appoints New Principal
Aiken has extensive experience as a principal and educator and has a proven commitment to Catholic education. For the past four years, she served as principal of Fourteen Holy Helpers School in West Seneca. Prior to that, she was principal at Saint Mark Elementary School in Venice, California for four years before relocating to Buffalo.
“We are so pleased that someone with Mrs. Aiken’s credentials and experience will be leading our school,” Fr. Yetter said. “Her enthusiasm for Catholic education will build upon the great legacy of Sr. Sheila.”
Mrs. Aiken begins work on August 4.
Outreach for Hurting Mothers
Have you or a mother you know recently lost a child – either through miscarriage, stillbirth, or post-birth? The Daughters of Mary, a Catholic moms group at St. Mary’s, has a prayerful outreach called Gabriel’s Graces for moms hurting from this loss. With confidentiality, we prayerfully support these mothers (and their families) in their time of sorrow. She does not need to be Catholic, a parishioner, or even local. For more information or if you would like to submit a name for prayers and/or outreach, please contact Hope at 633-9525 or Angela at 989-9893. Also, we are looking for others moms who would like to join us in prayer and/or outreach. There are no meetings to attend or age limit to joining us in prayer. Please contact the above or email: firstname.lastname@example.org to join Gabriel’s Graces!
Thank you to our volunteers and participants for making this year’s Chowder Chase and Picnic a great success.
Tree Planting Honors Sr. Sheila
A tree planting ceremony to honor Sr. Sheila Anne Burke, OSF, longtime principal of St. Mary School who passed away in early June, was held on June 19. A memory box was planted at the base of the tree containing notes written by students and faculty. Thank you to Russ Gullo, owner of Russell’s Tree and Shrub Farm for donating the beautiful Sun Valley maple tree and to John Siefert of Siefert Landscaping for assisting with the planting
New Shrine Honors Mary
Our new Marian outdoor shrine is complete thanks to the generosity of the family of Tim and Colleen Tevens. The Marian shrine highlights the area near the playground, fields and back parking lot. The shrine will be dedicated on Sunday, June 1. by Bishop Edward Grosz, auxiliary Bishop of Buffalo, in honor of Mary, mother of God and mother of the Church, as well as spiritual mother to all of us.
