We continue on our journey in Lent, and in the Gospel today, we hear about the importance of repentance and producing good fruit in our lives. I think we produce good fruit when we are obedient to God out of love for Him, and love for our neighbor. The 9:30 am Mass for the R.C.I.A. candidates’ Scrutinies will hear a different Gospel about the woman of Samaria who has a conversation with Jesus at the well. In this conversation, Jesus meets the woman where she is at, and calls her to go deeper into a relationship with God. Jesus says: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Like the Samarian woman, Jesus calls us to go into a deeper relationship with Him. Through the Lenten practices of prayer, self-denial, and charitable outreach, we are called to go deeper. God challenges us in our lives, challenges us into a deeper relationship with Him, and will not leave us alone on our journey. God is present to help support us. This week let us remember who God is, the one who loves us, and is always inviting us to grow closer to him, to have a deeper relationship with Him. He is rooting for us, is on our side, never gives up on us, and wishes the best for our lives.
God bless,
