God of understanding, overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy,
we seek your light and guidance as we confront such terrible events. Grant that those whose lives were spared may live so that the lives lost here may not have been lost in vain.
Comfort and console us, strengthen us in hope, and give us the wisdom and courage to work tirelessly for a world where true peace and love reign among nations and in the hearts of all.

On this #throwbackthursday, we’re taking you all the way back to 1930, the year that construction started on the current St. Mary School building that faces Transit Rd. The congregation had grown to around 300 families by that time, and the new building was to cost $70,000. This undertaking occurred during the worst years of the Great Depression and was met with setbacks including a natural spring being discovered underneath the basement floor which required much time and work to correct. Every morning groups of men applied to work on the school for fifty cents an hour. #StMarys175

Happy Labor Day! Let's remember all of our teachers and staff today, and keep them in our prayers for a wonderful school year. See you all on Weds. for the first day of school!
Lord, on this Labor Day,
we thank You for the blessing of work.
We ask for strength to complete each day.
We ask for rest when we are weary.
We ask Your guidance for everyone seeking employment,
and we ask that You be with those whose faces
we might never see but who work tirelessly each day
for the good of us all.
Amen.
