New Youth Ministry Assistants Join St. Mary’s Catholic Ed Team

St. Mary Parish is excited to welcome Mrs. Heidi Sutt and Luke Gozelski as our new Youth Ministry Assistants.  They have already been working and making plans with our Youth Ministry Director, Mike Slish, and are excited for the new school year!

Luke Gozelski has been a parishioner at St. Mary’s since he transferred to St. Mary School in seventh grade.  Luke attended Park High School and has one more year to go at ECC.  He participated in the youth program throughout middle and high school.  As soon as he received his Confirmation, he began volunteering with the youth of the parish as a member of the Risen Retreat Crew and helping out where he could.

Luke is happy to be a part of our amazing Catholic Education team.  He is glad to provide a young adult’s perspective and looks forward to accompanying the youth of our parish on their life and faith journeys.  St. Mary’s School, Faith Formation, and Church have been great sources of guidance, comfort and friendship for Luke and he wants all of our youth to have a place to come, like a second home.  Luke shared his vision, “I want St. Mary’s to be an open arms home for all youth, where they can find support, feel comfortable and have fun.”

Mrs. Heidi Sutt loves the collaborative environment of St. Mary’s Catholic Education Office.  She has been the Vacation Bible School Director for the last three years and was a parent volunteer the previous four years.  Heidi has taken advantage of many Adult Faith Enrichment opportunities, including Christ Renews His Parish, Daughters of Mary, and Bible Studies during her ten years as a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church.  She also serves as a Lector for Masses.

Heidi, her husband, Mike, and their children can be seen volunteering and participating at most of our parish and faith formation events.  Serving others is very important to her family and we are glad that they give of their time and talent at St. Mary’s.  Heidi is excited that we are getting back to normalized socialization.

In her role as a Youth Ministry Assistant, Heidi is looking forward to continuing to build relationships with the youth of our parish.  She loves working with middle and high school students; she was a high school English teacher.  Mrs. Sutt shares, “Youth are the future of the Church.  Together, our Youth Ministry Team strives to get our young people excited about their faith.  Hopefully, they will want to share it with others in the future.”

May the Lord bless Heidi and Luke in their new roles.
